RVSM Manual PreparationRVSM Program Manual

The FAA implemented Reduced Vertical Separation Minimum (RVSM) regulations in January 2005 to double the number of available flight levels between FL290 and FL410. The approval is optional. No special FAA approval is needed to fly above or below Reduced Vertical Separation Minimum airspace. Practically speaking, lack of approval means less desirable routings from ATC and costly additional fuel burn.

Wilding Air can prepare custom RVSM Program manuals for you within one to three business days after receiving a complete application form and supporting documentation if/as required. We can also help you obtain other SAO (Special Areas of Operation) B036 RNP & B039 NAT-HLA (previously MNPS), A056 CPDLC (Controller Pilot Data Link Communications), C052 RNAV GNSS (GPS) approach to LNAV, C063 RNAV GNSS (GPS) terminal operations and C073 VNAV IAP using MDA as DA / DH authorizations.  We then electronically provide the manual(s) and supporting documentation directly to you (email or download link). As the Operator of the aircraft you are required to read, understand, sign and submit the manual and supporting documentation to the FAA Flight Standards District Office (FSDO) with geographical jurisdiction based on the Operator’s primary business address. Wilding Air will continue to work with you throughout the process for no additional charge and complete any documentation changes if required by your FSDO as appropriate. If outside the United States, then your manuals and supporting documentation must be submitted to the appropriate FAA International Field Office (IFO).

As of August 19, 2016, RVSM authorization was revised for all Operators.  The FAA removed a lot of the Maintenance Program requirements and have published Advisory Circular 91-85A to reflect these changes.

On January 22, 2019, RVSM authorization was revised again for all Operators that have aircraft which are ADS-B out equipped and have published Advisory Circular 91-85B due to the new 14 CFR 91, Appendix G, Section 9. If you are only operating within domestic airspace and not overflying other countries and / or no further than 12nm from the shoreline, you will not need a B046 LOA or OpSpec or MSpec if the aircraft is ADS-B out equipped. All of the other Reduced Vertical Separation Minimum requirements remain in effect (i.e. pilot training, height monitoring, maintenance etc.)  If you are operating outside of US domestic airspace, you will probably need a RVSM Letter of Authorization or Operation Specifications for Reduced Vertical Separation Minimum airspace. Please review our RVSM FAQ page for additional information.  Contact us to obtain your RVSM Letter of Authorization or Operation Specifications with these new changes.
